I started this website out of my passion for and belief in living a healthy, whole food, plant based diet and my desire to share what I have learned with others. There is plenty of research that correlates the quality of your diet to the quality of your health. A whole food plant based approach has been shown to increase that quality. Better health leads to less sickness, lower medical costs and more time with loved ones. A bonus of a plant based approach is it’s also better for the environment.
On a personal level, I believe it will also prevent diseases later in my life. My family has a history of chronic heart diseases. Two plus years ago, a family member had taken a test that showed they had early stage of heart disease (plaque buildup in the arteries around the heart). They were motivated to take control of their own health to avoid future heart problems. Note, this family member had been a runner their entire life (ran at University) and always ate a balanced diet according to the government “food pyramid”. They are also an MD and as doctors do, they researched potential solutions to the medical problem. That is when they discovered a plant based diet and gave it a go. Within a few months, they retook the same test and the early signs of heart disease were gone.
I have been plant based for over a 3 year now. For the last 20 plus years, I have had a sinus infection 3-4 times a year, it's like clockwork, every 3 months. It last for about 7-10 days and makes life miserable and I either miss work days or those days are very painful. YES, I've seen many doctors and taken plenty of medicine to "prevent" them, but they didn't work. Since switching to a plant based diet, I have had 1 sinus infection.
Additionally, I am in my thirties, and similar to my father, I am a runner. Within a few months of being plant based, I dropped 15 lbs. and 30 minutes off of my best marathon time. I’m not a world class runner, but I could feel the difference in recovery, training, energy levels and overall healthier. This better vitality has impacted all areas of my life, energy for the whole work day, more energy with the kids, enjoyment from cooking healthy meals with the kids and sharing a healthier lifestyle with my wife.
My goal is to help spread information so others can live a healthier, more fulfilling life and enjoy their loved ones longer.
